Please consider providing a configuration setting that would allow the mapping of these two keys to be swapped, that is, for the Mac 'Option' key to be mapped to Windows, and. Host key + m, minimize virtualbox os window, Click Host key once and release to let the vm lose focus, then Alt + Tab, switch to a window of residing os, Tips: The Host key is used to transfer focus to residing os, on windows or linux its right Ctrl by default. The VMs I am testing with were created from scratch using Windows ISO file and also from our Backup software images using VirtualBoot. The current mapping forces us to learn a completely set of keystrokes on the VM than we're used to on a Windows keyboard (which we have to use anytime we're no on the VM). It would be interesting to find out exactly what the issue is so I will try and upload those logs for you to take a look at soon. On a new macbook pro 13' with 16GB memory and quadcore i7, and with VirtualBox 6.1.11 and 6.1.12 (other versions not tested), I am seeing slow and lagging keyboard response for xubuntu guest applications such as emacs and firefox, independent of the display scaling but only if the window fills a good fraction of the laptop screen. So it seems to me that the virtual machines within vbox no longer recognises the keyboard pass through whilst using logmein.
Oracle vm virtualbox change windows keyboard mapping driver#
I did notice the keyboard driver within device manager changed on this server, perhaps caused by windows updates and restarts. It did work via logmein on another server we have with vbox until yesterday, where I ran some windows updates and then it stopped working.

It seems that using logmein to remotely connect to the server running vbox and then attempting to use the keyboard in the Virtual Machines did not work, but I have created a direct RDP connection to the server from my machine and this does allow keyboard input within the Virtual machines in vbox.Īlso, plugging a keyboard into the server and working directly from there works, but as this server is located at a remote site, this is not practical for me.
